In what was to be the last decade of the Club competing under the name of Northern Districts, successes were to be few and far between.
The first grade won only two minor premierships – in 1977-78 when the team under the captaincy of Jeff Crittenden won its second consecutive minor premiership; and in 1983-84 when the team with Phil Warby in his first season as captain finished equal on the point score with City United.
During the ten seasons of this decade the first grade qualified for the semi- finals on five occasions. Three times they were defeated in the semis but in 1979-80 and 1983-84 they went all the way to win the final and the major premiership.
In 1979-80 under the captaincy of Peter Rawling they defeated Tenambit-Morpeth in the semi-final and Weston Workers in the final. In 1983-84 the first grade again defeated Tenambit-Morpeth in the semi-final and then won the final in a very close match against City United.
